5 Weird and Expensive Gold Items

There are a quite a number of things that money can buy in this world. The precious yellow metal is surely one of them. And when we buy things made out of this precious metal, you can be rest assured it will not be cheap! Interestingly, a number of things have been developed out of gold over the years. While some of these items are not so crazy enough, others are pretty surprising. Also, while some of these items are out of reach of common people, others can be afforded provided you make an attempt to get them. Given below are some of these expensive items that are made of gold.

1. Christmas tree

Well, there can’t be a better way to celebrate Christmas than having a Christmas tree that is made of gold! Well, this can be the case if you’re really wealthy and can afford such an expensive buy. Costing around $1.95 million, this tree is surely one of the most expensive gold items ever made. The tree was designed by Ginza Tanaka and was recently unveiled in Tokyo. The tree weighed twelve kilograms approximately and its height was 2.4 meters. The heart-shaped ornaments and ribbons used in designing this tree are made of pure solid gold.

2. Santa Claus

If the Christmas tree is among the most expensive gold items to have been made in the history, then Santa Claus cannot be left far behind in this race. This pricey item that was again designed by Tanaka costs around $1.8 million and roughly contains gold in tune to 20 kilograms. If this is not enough, consider this – Santa’s belt is embedded with 23 diamonds totaling 1.7 carats. The sack of gifts and the presents in them are made of pure gold.

3. Calendar

This is one calendar whose dates you would love to see again and again! This calendar is no ordinary one as it is made out of pure gold. The calendars that once contained stunning pictures of cute kittens, beautiful scenery is a thing of past now. This calendar is truly extraordinary as it is made of 24-karat gold. Weighing around six kilograms this calendar measures 42 cm in length and 62 cm in width. The other side of this calendar has the picture of a traditional painting of Japan. The approximate cost of this calendar is $0.25 million.

4. Foot Massager

If you want to pamper yourself using a foot massager then think of this. This expensive foot massager designed and developed by Ginza Tanaka is expensive and will cost you nothing less than $0.12 million. The massager is made from pure gold and will help your tired feet to get relaxed a bit.

5. Swimsuit

This is another expensive you wouldn’t consider buying if you’re not so wealthy enough. Costing about $82,000, this swimsuit contains 24-karat gold and is designed and developed by Tanaka. It took them close to 32 days to develop this swimsuit. The swimsuit was developed using fine golden threads that measured 90 microns. All in all, the swimsuit is believed to contain 500 grams of pure gold.

Barbecoa

This second story restaurant with views out over St. Pauls Cathedral has the ability to take a person’s breath away before they have even sampled the food. However, when the food is sampled, things only get better.

Barbecoa is the joint concept of Britain’s very own naked chef; Jamie Oliver and his friend and business partner; Adam Perry Lang. The two met in Adam’s world renowned New York restaurant, Daisy May’s. After forming a strong friendship over a couple of years the two incredible chefs hatched a plan for an amazing steak house using simple, fresh ingredients in a way that would celebrate food. Barbecoa was born.

The kitchen features a vast array of ovens and grills which help to create barbequed food like no other. The restaurant actually has a butcher’s on site, downstairs. Meat has never been fresher in a restaurant.

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon

This world class restaurant offers the very best in French fine dining. The proud owner of not one but two Michellin stars, the L’Atelier food is second to none.

The restaurant has to exquisite floors. The lower floor offers guests the chance to sit inches away from their chefs and watch them cook the food right in front of their eyes in plush surroundings. The second floor offers a regular seating plan in equally beautiful surroundings.

Kopapa

For an exciting treat with a difference, the Kopapa in Covent Gardens is a must. The restaurant is open all day offering a wide range of breakfasts, brunches, light bights and meals.

The menu features delights that are strongly influenced by owner, Peter Gordon, with an eclectic menu that only the fusion expert himself would put together.

Spice Market London

This unique restaurant is set within the W Hotel, near Leicester Square. The first feature any customer will notice is the 24 meter long spice cabinet which contains all the fresh spices that create the aromatic flavours of the food within the restaurant.

The restaurant specialises in Asian with European influences.
